Developed as a permanent treatment option to eliminate pain caused by fat pad atrophy, The Footlift is nothing short of a revolution. The procedure involves harvesting fat cells from your own body (abdomen and thighs) and transferring it to the areas of the foot that have lost cushion. As your body’s own fat cells are used in the procedure, the chance of rejection is minimal, and the fat transfer process is standard practice across a range of procedures offered at Cosmetic Avenue.
The fat graft (also known as lipoaspiration) is performed in two sections:
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The entire process takes 2-3 weeks and will require three appointments with both our specialist Cosmetic Surgeon and our partner podiatrist.
In the initial appointment, our Podiatrist will review your health and complete a biomechanical assessment. An insole will also be fitted to your feet in order to remove any pressure while the fat graft is setting. After the procedure, you will be required to wear the insole for about two weeks.
You will undergo The Footlift in the second appointment. The procedure can take between 60 and 90 minutes, and can sometimes be performed directly after the initial appointment. As a safety precaution, it is advised that you do not drive home, and arrange alternative transport instead.
Most patients only require two days rest after the procedure, but it is important to remember that your mobility will be affected for up to 2 weeks.
