What is Rhinoplasty?

Are you happy with your nose? Maybe you don’t like the way your nose looks or its proportions in relation to the rest of your face. You might even be having trouble breathing through your nose. If you’re facing either of these problems our experienced surgeons at Cosmetic Avenue are here to help you.

Also known as a „nose job”, rhinoplasty is a procedure of changing or reshaping the nose.

The importance of the shape of one’s nose is quite obvious – as a central part of the face, it dictates the look of it and whether or not does.

A nose job is performed to:

  • Decrease the size of your nose
  • Remove the bump on the bridge
  • Improve breathing through the nose
  • Correct or enhance prior nasal surgery
  • Repair birth defects
  • Add “projection” to the tip
  • Restore your nose after an injury
  • Straighten a crooked nose

Things to know about Rhinoplasty

It is important to remember that a professionally performed rhinoplasty is always in harmony with the overall features of the patient’s face. Your surgeon will always analyse your face and choose the correct approach, for your nose to look better, but as the same time, stay cohesive with the rest of your face – creating a natural final effect. It is hard to name a cosmetic procedure which requires more skill and surgical finesse than rhinoplasty, and that’s why it’s so important to choose a proven, qualified surgeon.

How long is a Rhinoplasty procedure?

The surgery itself can take anywhere between 2 to 3 hours, but this can vary. It is performed with the use of one of two available techniques – open and closed. In 90% of cases, Cosmetic Avenue surgeons use the Closed Technique of Rhinoplasty.

Closed technique

During the rhinoplasty performed with the use of closed technique, small incisions are made inside the nose. Then, using specialised instruments, your surgeon will separate the skin from the underlying supporting bone’s framework and cartilage. With access to the bone and cartilage, your surgeon will now sculpture them to the desired shape. The extent of this sculpting depends on the anatomy and desired outcome. After sculpting is done, the skin is re-draped over the framework.
